In 1990 she started a professional training in Visual Merchandising at Hirmer Fashionhouse Munich, working there for five years.
First interest in materials, attending advanced material training (e.g. textile, leather and production methods).
She went to art school (FOS Gestaltung) in Munich for two years, graduating in 1997.
Move to Andalucía for several month to deepen her studies of flamenco dance and art history.
In 1998 Doris started to study Industrial Design at Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd, one of the most prestigious institutions for design in Germany.
Exchange semester at Instituto de Technología Antonio José Sucre, six months attending various courses of design and art. Final presentation for the bachelor's degree, in Spanish.
From 2003 to 2006 Doris worked in the winter seasons as a product designer for the sports brands Indigo and Bogner Ski. During summers as a Freelancer for different design studios in Munich and Vienna.
Move to London and staying for eleven years, working for different design studios and international companies, including Native Design, Sabotage, Motorola, Nissan, Vertu, etc.

Getting more and more interested in the universe of Materials, Finishes and Colours, Doris started to specialise in this area and joined the Motorola CMF team in 2008, working between London and Chicago HQ.
Over the years Doris has attended various design & art workshops, such as:
Vitra Design Workshop with Humberto & Fernando Campana Creating Lighting Objects from recycled and natural materials Colour Trend Workshop with NCS in Stockholm Shibori Workshop, traditional Japanese finishing techniques on textile Ceramic Design Workshop in Madrid.
In 2012 Doris started working as a Colour | Material | Finish Specialist for Nissan Design Europe, creating CMF designs for both brands, Nissan and Infiniti.
March & April 2013 extended stay in Brazil, taking an intensive Portuguese language course, visiting exhibitions & events and catching up with fellow designers. Salvador de Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo.
Starting to work for Vertu in 2013, first as CMF Senior Designer, shortly after as Head of Colours & Materials and being responsible for the CMF of the global product range, creating limited editions and bespoke, crafted products with exquisite materials.
She also designs jewellery made from unconventional materials and innovative production techniques. Ongoing projects for private clients.
In 2016 DorisB Design was founded. Since then Doris has been working on CMF and Product Design projects for diverse international clients.
